I had downloaded the Sevendust album I had spoke of earlier via bittorrent. I liked it. As I believe P2P helps artists, this prompted me to go buy the album.
I was in Walmart doing some household shopping (cleaning stuff, toilet paper, etc) when I saw they had the Sevendust album on sale. I was a little suprised, because its Walmart and the album does have explicit lyrics. It didn’t have an EL sticker on it (though other albums did). It was less expensive than it would have been through Amazon, so I decided to pick it up — Only to discover they had sold me a CD with all the explicit lyrics warped out! WTF!? There was no indication on the packaging. Nothing to indicate it was different. Even when I got home I went to Walmarts website to look at the exact CD and it specified that its an “un-edited” version!
Well, it turns out, after you open a CD, you can’t return it. They fucking sold me a defective product! I am so pissed!
Its not worth the time and effort to argue with the Walmart employee at the returns desk who will just quote company policy. I at least have the P2P version of the ablum, which I will now burn to a CD and replace the garbage disc.
What a load of crap. Never again!
Update
Additionally, Sevendust’s earlier work is pretty raw for even my tastes. My recommendation is to head over to iTunes or something and pick up Angel’s Son, Enemy, and Face to Face.

Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark…
Your first mistakes was you were in a Wal-Mart.

Options are limited out here… Bottom line is we had the closet space we’d go to Costco in a heart beat. But we don’t have the storage room for “economy” sized anything.
Trust me. Its not by choice.
What (which major mega-mart) made the options limited?
I’m not sure how much less-evil Target is, but I give them a pass while Wal-Mart’s around. For music, movies, and games, I stick with Amazon and sometimes Best Buy and Circuit City. The latter two often have major label CDs for $9.99, and Best Buy usually sells new DVDs at the same price as Amazon during the first week of release.
(There are other places for movies, which DVD Price Search tells me about, but I like to minimize where my credit card gets used, and Amazon usually wins if you use the free shipping.)
I usually buy mainstream music and movies from Amazon (LaserCD for the rest of my music). This was more of an impluse buy than anything else.
The Target out here (which is actually across the street from the Wal-Mart) is crap. Has nothing. Is always sold out of what you want even if they normally have it stocked. We are talking necessities… deoderant, shampoo.. They have one or two crappy brands of toilet paper. Additionally anything they have is guaranteed to me more expensive. The expense issue isn’t as big as the previous two. Comparing the Target out here (or at least the one in Maryland that’s easy to get to) with the Target in Walnut Creek is comparing night and day. Almost everything comparatively is better in the Bay Area… especially grocery stores. Ugh! A huge factor that will bring us back to California is the great selection of quality organic produce without taking the wallet with you.
As I said, its not really by choice. If we were in CA, we could shop at Whole Foods and actually get our money’s worth. Shop at Costco and Target for most everything else.
