Included below are my KDE customizations — mostly for my reference when reinstalling so I don’t have to track down everything again, but also anyone looking to take full advantage of a KDE environment. I’ll keep adding to this as I find more things.
Dolphin as Default
Right click on any folder and select “Open With…” Select Dolphin and check “Remember this selection”
Firefox
- Theme — Blue Ice
- Extensions — del.icio.us Bookmarks, Download Statusbar, Fasterfox
Chrome Customizations

Printer -> Properties — Set command to /usr/bin/kprinter
Thunderbird
Under Preferences > Advanced > Config Editor
- network.protocol-handler.app.http == firefox
- network.protocol-handler.app.https == firefox
xorg.conf
For laptop, add following to xorg.conf in “Synaptics Touchpad” section
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
KDE Startup Folder
In ~/.kde/Autostart (create soft links — ln -s)
